Courses

Barasat Govt. College is going to introduce CBCS-teaching, learning and evaluation system from the coming Session as directed by the West Bengal State University. The Admission for the session 2018-2019 will be guided by the CBCS criteria.

Choice of Courses

  1. For the B.A./B.Sc. (Honours) Course of Studies, a candidate is required to choose his/her Honours in a discipline and two other disciplines for Generic Elective courses, from among Group-I to Group-VIII as follows by taking not more than one disciplines from any of the groups mentioned hereunder:
  2. For the B.Sc. (General) Course of Studies, a candidate is required to choose three disciplines from among Group-I to Group-VIII as follows by taking not more than one disciplines from any of the groups mentioned hereunder:

For the B.A. (General) Course of Studies, a candidate is required to choose two main disciplines and for Generic Elective courses the student is required to chose a third discipline, from among Group-I to Group-VIII as follows by taking not more than one disciplines from any of the groups mentioned hereunder:
Gr. I.: Physics, Zoology.
Gr. II : Mathematics, History.
Gr. III : Chemistry, Sanskrit.
Gr.IV : Botany, Economics
Gr. V : Political Science
Gr. VI : Geography, Philosophy
Gr. VII : English
Gr. VIII : Bengali

N.B:

  1. The practical Based subjects (Phys, Chem, Zoo, Botany and Geography) will only be offered if the candidates have got qualifying marks in 10+2 level course.
  2. For Economics (Hons.) the candidate should have qualifying Marks in Maths in 10+2 level.
  3. All Candidates should have qualifying marks in English in 10+2 level and The Full Marks in English (in 10+2 level) should not less than 100.
